RUATHYN THE FALLEN

This most ancient of all empires was the greatest of all the Wyrmkings power. In the time before the War of Hosts the Empire spanned over half of the planet before its destruction. After the Shattering survivor gathered up the magical shards and mantles of the ancient magic and used them to rebuild what they could of their empire. The empire spread from the Valusian Plains to the Drythinian Peninsula up to the Borderlands of Zurish, encompassing the great Forest of Tears and all the lands in between. They held sway over the eye of Iccendria and kept the dark horrors of winter at bay for several thousand years. As the centuries marched on, the empire grew corrupt and its strangling grip of power weakened; the final stroke that destroyed the grip of The Ruathyn’s was the fall of the fifth moon. This threw the empire into darkness during most of the age of the Awakening and only in the last 300 years have many of the smaller nations developed as individual powers, each vieing for a foothold in the current age. The eye of Iccendria casts darkness in the winter now and the horrors have returned. Only Blackwater-Port is left of what was once the greatest empire in the known world, it is a relic of the First Age and all those that have come since.
Many small wars between the various nation states are a constant reminder of how far the great empire has fallen. The people are in despair and the ravaged lands lie in ruins. Blackwater Port, Drythinia, and Sargothia are the last of the Ruathyn cities to still stand. Caer Allwyn was destroyed three winters past when a great chasm opened up beneath it and the city fell to ruins as the Cendrum’s black arm of darkness swallowed up the once great metropolis.
In the current age after the war, new countries and powers arose: Dorovar, Ilthguard, Caer Allwyn, Sargothia, Arn, Akjal-Avorim, Melanbendoor, Luna, Sune, and the Gvenestla.
