CELESTIAL EVENTS AND RELATED FESTIVALS

The festivals and seasons of Verith are based on the orbits of the great moons that circle Waysria, as well as the other celestial bodies.

FESTIVAL OF REBIRTH:  Ardor 1-5

This five-day celebration occurs on the first day of light after the long and dark winter.  Celebrated by all who love the light of Belorn and what it stands for.   Celebrations in many ways usually including great feasts along with contests of agility, skill and artisanship, fertility rite and other rites of passages.  Considered the time when good has triumphed over evil.

LAST NIGHT: (Celebration of life) Pelorn 30

This holiday marks the beginning of summer and an end to the darkness for another season.  It is during this time that good sways the world.  The Cendrum must retreat into their dark holes until the winter darkness returns.  This is the celebrations of planting and rebuilding.  Some forgive debts while others build shelters for the poor.  Farms and fields are growing well by this time as the first harvest is near.  Belorn’s followers celebrate this day with a grand parade in the city of Blackwater-Port.

ASCENSION OF AMRA: Borass 1-2

The first nightfall after summer ends, symbolizing the end of another growing season as the second harvest should be in by now and in the process of being set by.  This festival occurs all through the night on the full moon.  The harvest festival is very extravagant indeed.   The rich throw huge parties with all costumed in rich gala dress.  The poor gather in parks, fields, and feast with each other. Here they sing tales of the year and sing ancient melodies for this is the last day of no fear.  From now on the nights of winter come closer as do the Cendrum hordes.

RITES OF THE BLOODSWORD: Gilthan 1

The humans of the trade guilds celebrate this solemn occasion as a rite of passage for all boys of age 13.  It is here they celebrate their manhood.  Most of the celebrations include battle against some form of beast to prove their strength.  Those that perform well may get a chance to further prove their

manhood in battles with the Cendrum as

the nights begin to grow longer.

LAST LIGHT: Maytrss 30

Marked by the appearance of the Eye of Iccendria in the sky this is the last time the light of Belorn will be seen for two months.  This gives the Cendrum a chance to advance at will.  Except for the extreme cold, they would dominate the surface of Verith.  This is the saddest of observances, as all are getting ready for the impending doom of the Winter War. Many large cities will construct great bonfires or use magic to create light to illumine the night and help protect the people. However, the little towns often rely on defensive weapons and traps to survive.  Those that survive have a right to celebrate this explains one of the reasons that so many families are so large and why so many towns have some kind of wall.

TIME AND DAY

1. The shadow cast from Waysria. This shadow rotates around the land of Verith once every 24 hours; providing day and night.  Also note the area along the coast where the shadow never hits.  This area at most will fade to twilight but never darkness.

2. This shadow comes from the primal moon of water.  It circles the world once every day and give rise to the hours of day and night.

3. The shadow of this primal moon revolves around the coreward center of Verith once every 30 days.  It moves slowly giving rise to the lands of darkness and shadow.  In the winter months the angles of the Primal moons cause the shadows to elongate and connect from center core to the outer edge creating passage for the Cendrum.

4. The stationary eye of Iccendria forever blocks the light at this point on Verith.  The eye rises and falls with the seasons.

5.  Over the edge of the world should one ever look and survive is the lower land of Yesandoor.  It is one of the five floating mantles that orbit over Ascar.  It rotates around the edge of the Illmeran Ocean one a year and is in a different spot every day

6. The last ring is the invisible barrier that holds the oceans in place around Verith.
