HISTORY OF VERITH

THE WYRMKINGS.

In the great first age the wyrmkings reigned supreme.  These immortal dragons formed Verith as a home world for their explorations of the known planes of existence. Their power was almost limitless in scope.  Through their powers all that is was formed. The primal wyrmking known as Illitharn ruled the others without question for millennia.  Then after thousands of years Iccendria convinced the other wyrmkings to combine their vast powers in a ritual unknown to all.  With a great deal of persuasion she was finally able to lure a majority of the Immortal Host to join her plot.

The force of the ritual was too great even for their combined power and the magic backfired and the great magic of the first age was no more.  Verith and the great magic were sundered into shards, mantles, and cores; cast to the farthest ends of the celestial sphere.  Illitharn’s power was untouched due to his unique connection to the multiverse.  He cast Iccendria and her followers into the shadow and darkness removed from the light forever for their grand betrayal.  They were called Cendrum in the ancient tongue, meaning “cast out”.  The Cendrum Host would from that point on represent all that is evil, treacherous and deceitful; hidden in darkness beneath Verith to weave their lies and schemes of revenge. The Remaining Immortal Host stayed in the upper realms and their powers were stabilized by Illitharn for their loyalty.  They represent goodness, light, honesty, and hope for the future.

Thus began the second age; the battle for power raged on for several millennia, the balance wavering back and forth between shadow and light, chaos and law as the Immortal Hosts waged war on the Cendrum.  This battle raged on for almost a million years. The planet Verith and the remains of its devastations were all but destroyed into nothing.  The war of Hosts culminated in a great battle on Verith.  The wyrmkings battled head on in all out destruction.  The primal moon of Melanbendoor was pulled from its orbit in the sky and crashed into Verith destroying almost all life. This brought such rage to Illitharn that he gave up his great magic to seal the Cendrum Host into the very mantle of floating earth in the shadows beneath so that they could never again bring such devastation.
