Architect and Title Company*: Owned by Luthor One-eye. Run by Hillary Gostwich, a pleasant and optimistic young lady of exceptional beauty. All land transactions, mining claims and building permits are obtained through this office. Prices vary according to the project. (50-5,000gp). Hillary is an accomplished architect and can draw up most any plans except the most outrageous. If something is to strange for her she will refer them to Luthor for a personal consultation.

The Monkey’s Paw Inn*: The favorite place of the masses that visit Shieldrun, for the many festivals and ceremonies. Lodging is quite nice and the amenities are always kept up. Prices vary according to rooms and availability. (6sp day / 5gp week, are the usual). Private bathrooms are extra. There are also private villas separated from the rest of the hotel in the garden courtyard. They run from 10gp night to 75gp for the largest. Nobles and upper class citizens usually stay here. Private guards protect these areas. (Luthor pays these men to watch for freelance thieves). The Innkeeper is Otto Fistanal. He loves a good joke for a beer any day. His three daughters wait on the customers. (Driselda, Layella, Florala). They are all single and can be wed for a reasonable price. They will flirt with any human male with a charisma of 14 or better. All are fervent patrons of Belorn’s Temple. They dislike ruffians and any fights will be quickly stopped by the law if they break out. Otto’s wife is a potter at the co-op and has many of her mugs for sale on the back bar shelves. They range in price from 3cp to 5gp. Depending on the complexity of design and quality of work.

John Deas Fine Clothier and Tailor*: John as he is called is a very well to do tailor. He makes most of the clothes for the upper classes in the area as well as most of the merchants. He prefers the atmosphere here in a small town as compared to the rough and ragged city. Clothes made here are 20 times the normal amount. They are a must for any up and comer in the area. His symbol is a silver falcon’s head on the lapel of the item he makes. He has magical protections and lets his customers know.

The Blackbone Tavern: This tavern is very nice and another well to do establishment in Shieldrun. The owner Trugher Burnstall, LE is out to make a buck. Although the appearance of the place is very fine. Trugher is always on the lookout for a way to make money. (He informs Luthor, of all the local adventurers and there tales of might. He gets cut of any loot that might be acquired). This tavern has a reputation as a place for adventurers to hangout as well as prospective swordarms. But unfortunately the good comes with the bad. The favorite meal served here is a roast suckling pig and a small barrel of 7 heads ale (40gp).

The 9 Finger’s Merchant Company: Run by Scarion Quickfinger (He has no right index finger). Scarion is an older gentleman who is never without his two henchmen (Elkstrider and Tinker). They are very loyal. He runs a lucrative business in the fine furniture trade, as well as fine carriages of all sorts from regular prices to anything you want. He has won several of the art competition with the carriages he has crafted. The Lord High Protector and the Emperor of Dorovar uses his carriages and furniture in their personal homes. He is a true braggart when it comes to his achievements. All within a 100 mile radius know of his deeds and can almost recite them exactly as Scarion does. (How annoying). His caravans travel mostly by land and he has several Adventuring Companies that regularly take on the duty of escorts. They do not like competition on these routes. (Lower level members of the Iron Legion in particular).

The Outer Temple of Belorn: This is where the common folk and the lesser priests come to pray and make offerings. The priest in charge of this area is Corwyn the Upright, who is assisted by Shieldarm Sir Deridyus, a member of the Order of the Owl. Once a week and on the new moon Thurgin will come to the Outer Temple and bless the masses and hear the prayers of the many pilgrims. This is also the time when he is able to use the ritual of raise dead (500g) if needed.

The Inner Courtyards of the Temple: All of the ground inside this 25’ rampart is holy and gives off a slight glow. Only worshippers who have been cleansed buy the true light and wear special garb may walk on this sacred ground. (This floor will damage all evil and unaligned people 2D4 round: Will save, CE beings receive -8 to roll). Thurgin presides over this region and Sir Flisstern is his Shieldarm. Pineous will come out on the pulpit from the Inner Sanctuary once a month to speak the words of Belorn. Sir Oliver is never far away.

The Holy Stables: Where the animals for sacrifice are kept. All equipment necessary for these rituals is also kept in locked trunks of Blackwood. Over 100 animals are kept here at all times. The servants who tend these animals sleep in warmed rooms in the stables.

The Ancient Tomb of Midra’s High Priests: This building is constructed of the strange metal ore found in the Crater of the Fallen Moon. It is guarded by holy Warriors and Magic Runes. This is where over nine generations of High Priests are entombed, with all their sacred garb and jewelry.

The Inner Sanctuary of Belorn’s Temple: Only Pineous and his chosen acolytes may walk upon this sacred ground that Belorn himself touched before the Great Intervention. Others who have tried have been engulfed in bright light never to be seen again. The great statue holds the spirit of the Avatar, Sezzujurn. He acts as a go between for Belorn and the Prelate and the Arch Prelate. Any paladin of the Owl may freely walk anywhere within the temple, although they do not enter here without good reason, out of respects for the Prelates.

Tower of the High Lord Protector*: Tallowhoff Eagleroost holds his privacy very near and dear, and does not take kindly to interruptions at his home. His tower is guarded by magical means as well as a few devious traps of his own construction. He is one of the few citizens of Shieldrun that can contact the Druid of Shadowglen.

The Estate of Luthor One-eye: This resplendent estate home is manned by many slaves and servants in addition to a few guards. Luthor loves to have company and accepts most all visitors unless in the matter of other business. (On the black market he is called the Cyclops, and is always seen in a disguise if seen at all). He especially loves adventurers, He often sends his men along with them (rogues) posing as bards or monks. They steal what they can without getting caught. They will however help the party as Luthor benefits as he owns the pawnshop and other black market ventures that buy items of interest. Each member has a succor spell cast on a special ring in case of dire emergency.

Druid’s Cove: This mysterious place has several strange pillars and markings in a small glade. The Druid Gilden is said to live in these woods. Few have seen him and others say he is a wild beast man.

The Spacek Farm*: Run by Senior Spacek, a devout follower of Belorn. He oversees the orphanage and the farming that feeds the children, as well as teaches them trade skills.(Many of the children work for the Cyclops on the side and practice their techniques in the city markets). If a child has a particularly high IQ, they are sent to Wizard’s rest to become an apprentice. For a fee (100gp) you may adopt an orphan. Many of the adventurers in the area were raised here. (Those who were not thieves no nothing about the connection to the Cyclops).

Shawlameer the Weaver: He is an evil violent man prone to wild mood swings. He hates all other weavers with a passion. Shawlameer often does nasty things to the other weavers who compete in the yearly festivals and has yet to be caught. He is very talented and pig-headed, although he fears the temple warriors and stays clear of them. He will hire assassins if threatened. He especially hates do-gooders.

The potter’s COOP*: Local pottery from the farms is brought here to sell. The pieces vary in price. While some famous potter’s have gotten their start here. This is always a busy shop.

Scribe’s Villa: This is a small building of two stories. The owner, Jabel Ferling (LE) is a harsh taskmaster who employs about five scribes and several translators and scriveners. Paper is made here along with various ink and other writing supplies. There is a 60% chance that any given modern language can be translated or deciphered, if the price is right. Magical and ancient languages will take 2-8 (2D4) days to make an accurate translation. (Copies are sometimes made and sold to the Cyclops so he can send his men to follow and waylay the weary and weak if the letter is of monetary importance).

Cooper*: Daryl Harlinger (L) prepares several sizes of barrels with the helps of his three apprentices. They come in one gallon, five gallon and 30 gallon sizes. Prices vary depending on the wood used. Some common oak and fur barrels sit inside the shop 8-% of the time.

The Specialty Shops: Here you find specialists in engraving, enameling and embroidery. They are kept busy year round in preparation for the many festivals and work for the nobles in the surrounding region. The workers here change often, but the quality is journeyman or better.

Gijer the Barber*: A notoriously dirty man Giljer , is the typical medieval doctor/dentist/hairstylist. Complete with leeches, bloodletting and herbal potions. Each cure has a base 25% chance of aiding the suffering victim although none may cure any magical diseases or illnesses. Fees range in price from 3cp to 15gp.

The Herald: Finious Douster (LN), works for the heralds guild. He must confer with the home office in Blackwater-Port before any decisions are made as to appointments or changing heraldry. As a side line business, he rents out town criers to spread various news and messages in the streets.

Needler*: Haren Point (NG), makes needles of all sizes and many differing materials. He ships them to various seamstress houses all over the known world. H.P. needles are the best.

Abandoned House: Boarded up and in varying stages of disrepair. It would be advised that anyone who entered here could possibly get hurt. The title to this house is available for 500gp.

Lone Hut of Killiwink Uthalong: Diviner. Small fee charged for various information. WInky is simple and requires simple things. He is however very moody and visitors should be wary.

The Horner: Billy Buster (LE) Greedy and self righteous, Billy is a racist who even mocks weaker humans. He is however a great craftsman and has carved some of the most beautiful pieces of bone ever seen. He does not allow non humans in his shop. His works range in price from 300-800gp if you provide the bone.

Residence*-Sir Oliver of the Grey Vale: This home is owned by the Temple of Belorn. Oliver as the commander of the order stays here. He entertains dignitaries and nobles to gain favor for Belorn. He spend what free time he has roaming the wilderness to the north searching for a lost ring that was his father’s. I t was during a Goblin battle some 70 years past.

Goldsmith*: The Liverson family has run this business here for three generations. They have dealt with greed and theft many times. In the latest remodeling of their shop, the front windows are barred and marked with many protective wards. Vicious dogs guard the rear gardens. Mr. Liverson is very old and no longer works. His sons have taken over the business of the crafting, and Mr. Liverson still takes care of the sales and the money.

The Woodcarver’s Shop: Rigest of Elmwood (Half Elf) Rigest is the local woodcarver and can be commissioned to carve a bust or full figure sculpture of most anything. He must however have a subject that is willing to stand still for the 3-6 days needed to start the sculpture. After that the subject need only be present for an hour a day for the next 7 days. At which time the carving will be done. Small items take less time, while really large ones can take a month or more. Rigest has several elfin and Eladrin totems from Tragadon and Alcene prominently displayed in his work shop.

Luthor’s Appraisal and Money Exchange: “We deal in Jewelry, Gems and Objects D’ Art” The pawn shop extraordinaire! The high security of this place is such that only one customer at a time is allowed past the wizard locked doors of the viewing room into the protected room. All items to be sold are placed inside a cage of woven metal with many runes upon it. This transported up to a loft above the viewing room where the merchandise is examined and an offer is made and sent back in the cage. (Items are purchased for 20-50% of their value and sold for 200-250% of their value). The scales here are accurate to a fault and magically endowed to know the exact value of most items (2% chance of failure). The store is protected by a whole assortment of magical traps and creatures. Underneath the building is a network of tunnels that lead to Luthor’s estate and come up in the stables. There is never more than 1,000 gp. in the store at any given time. Items of exceptional value are displayed on magical mirrors that reflect the item. If anyone is interested in it. The shop keeper’s will have it brought up to a private viewing room.

Leatherworker’s Guild*: A large three story complex where leather is tanned, dyed and stored for sale and shipment in caravans to Ruathyn and beyond. The local leatherworkers can take the tanned hides home and produce various items of use. They will sell them in the market stalls on faire days as well as in the guildhall stores.

The Mount: This large stable is a horse market and furrier. Many mounts of various styles can be found here on occasion. 40% of any style horse. With a 20% chance of a less common mount and a 10% of a rare mount. If not available right away eggs or young babies can be ordered if the price is right. Training on the other hand is not guaranteed. Gorses, like people each have their own personality and each should be governed as such. The owner is Ferny Gerll (LN). Ferny deals in the black market and 50% of his horses are stolen from somewhere outside of Caer Allwyn. Some have even been stolen from local people 10%. These will be on “special”. He will attempt to remove any visible brands or at least alter them.

Blacksmith*: Durgor the Smith (LG) Mr. D, as the children call him is another of the town’s good citizens. He often takes unlucky wayfarers in for the night if the weather is bad and his wife will fix a good warm meal. The loft over the hearth is always a warm place to sleep. He will put out fresh straw and several blankets as necessary.

Nero’s General Store and Bath House: Most of the everyday common goods used by the townsfolk are available here. A bath house in the rear 3cp-1gp has 5 private tubs and each one is a little larger, as well a large common bath. The 1 gp room has massages and brothel activities available. (80gp an hour.)

Starshield Mercantile Company*: The great merchant company produces shields of all sizes and styles. Most of them are for the Allwyn and Ruathyn military forces. They employ over 50 men and other laborers in their factory. From picking and choosing the trees to be cut down to polishing the finished shields. They have a separate division that handles the security of the caravans. Usually men at arms and mercenary adventurers. Many renegade bands and humanoid tribes would love to gain a caravan load of defensive shields. Arden, is the family monarch as his father Mordin has been on his death bed for many months now. Mordin is kept alive through the efforts of an herbalist and healer.

Cinnamir Farm*: Algar Cinnamir has a large family that works his farm of herbs and spices. The quality of the items is on par with other grand herb farms.

Tarish Farm: Milan Tarish is a grumpy old farmer who has lost his four sons in the Orc wars of the past three seasons and is not feeling very patriotic these days. He stores a lot of items in his root cellar for the black market

Shrine of Midra: This shrine is composed of the central garden area and prayer archway consisting of solid gold. With bathing facilities in the front. This pool is fed by a warm spring and cures most diseases contracted from woodland animals. (Lyme disease, ticks, ringworm, small spore infections etc. There is a 40% chance of curing diseases contracted from a bite and a 10% of curing an evil affliction or magical disease. The shrine was originally just the prayer archway but as the following grew more and more pilgrims added and built around the shrine. The Priest of Midra that lives in a room over the spring is Aster of the Bow (CG) He however has no healing abilities. The most notable follower of Midra in Shieldrun is Sir Gilanor Swiftshaft, the Archer Knight of the Purple Fist. Servant of King Wyles II. The temple maintains a roster of some 50 woodland creatures and attendants. They in turn defend the local forest from bandits and evil creatures that would destroy its beauty and serenity.

Estate House-Sir Gilanor: A loyal follower of Midra who aids the temple on occasions of need. He is also often on missions for the Emperor himself in this region. He must report once a month to the High Lord Protector and the council to give a report of the local region, he must report to the Emperor once year and update him on the state of affairs in Caer Allwyn. He has several tasks that he has been charged with, some of which are: Ridding the region of shrines and influence of Cerion, Parazyphon and the accursed Arethius. He also boasts proudly to be in the service of Midra and nor Belorn. He maintains a small force of men-at-arms (40)as an emergency militia under orders of the Provost Marshall of the Purple Hand and the Emperor of Ruathyn. This militia is divided into squads of ten men that patrol the local woods around Shieldrun

Trader’s Market: This large market square is home to the monthly market days near the new moon festivals. It is also the general location of various circus and traveling shows. There will always be 10-40 market hawkers. Anyone may stand atop a soap box for a mere 3cp and speak their mind. Beggars are beaten if they enter the courtyard, so they usually stay clear of this market area, staying instead in the alleys around the market square. During festival times three beggars are chosen to enter and perform a song and dance for a chance to win the moon piece. A 25gp necklace made of obsidian and silver that allows them entry to the market place for an entire month.

The Shieldrest: This inn is not quite as nice as the Monkey’s Paw, but none the less it is always full by noon during festivals and during the slower times the rates are a little lower for non adventurers. Adventurers are usually charged an extra 5gp a night. Normal rates: 1 day/ 1 person 5sp (half Gelder) these rates are for rooms that have no private rooms or latrines. Private rooms range from 2-6gp a night per person. Meals range from 9-12cp and are simple meals. The prices are low and so is the quality. 20%of those who sleep there will get bed bugs/mites or a rash.

Landholding’s and Houses: These warehouses and residences are owned by Luthor and rented out by his Title Company. They can be purchased for 5-25k gp. Depending on the history and general disrepair of the building. Several of the estates have secret tunnels that have been walled up. Luthor had them sealed as the Cendrum had broken into few of them and the others are used by his underground guild.
